The Theosophical Society in Atlanta is a local chartered lodge of the Theosophical Society in America and the International Theosophical Society (Adyar). The Theosophical Society is a worldwide organization that was founded in New York on November 17, 1875. The Society seeks to bring people together; to reconcile the religions, philosophies, and sciences of both East and West; and to increase awareness of the Inner Reality present in every human being. As individuals we come together to share our diverse viewpoints, but we are also united by our acceptance of its objects (listed below), by our dedication to promoting brotherhood, and by our efforts to foster religious understanding and cooperation. We hold that truth should be sought by study, reflection and service, and not imposed by authority as a dogma. Peace is our watchword, as truth is our aim. | Explanation of the Symbols in the Emblem |
